WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for Wolverine #2 by Benjamin Percy, Adam Kubert and Frank Martin, on sale Wednesday, March 25.

Wolverine is currently the star of a new X-Men solo series that follows his adventures on the mutant island nation of Krakoa. This is Logan's first ongoing series since he returned from the dead in 2018-2019's Return of Wolverine miniseries.

The Wolverine creative team wasted no time by making life difficult for the popular X-Man, as he mistakenly slaughtered Jean Grey, Domino and Kid Omega. This brought flashbacks to the alternate Old Man Logan reality where Mysterio tricked Wolverine into killing the X-Men, but at least this time their fates aren't as dire. The House of X and Powers of X miniseries revealed that the X-Men have mastered a form of mutant resurrection with The Five -- a special group of X-Men who can combine their powers in tandem to bring any mutant back to life.

So even though Wolverine may have killed Jean, the love of his life, readers do know her death isn't permanent. Goldballs, Proteus, Elixir, Tempus and Hope will be able to resurrect Jean, Kid Omega and Domino. The first issue of Wolverine's new series only showed the aftermath of Logan's bloodshed, with the three X-Men laying dead in the snow. Now, a preview of Wolverine #2 offers a look at just how Logan mistakenly slays Jean Grey.

From Wolverine's point of view, he is facing off against Lady Deathstrike, Sabretooth and Doctor Cornelius, three of his fiercest enemies. Sabretooth leaps at him first, but Wolverine takes him down with three Adamantium claws straight to the chest. Next up is Doctor Cornelius from the Weapon X program, who shoots Wolverine from behind with a handgun. Of course, this does nothing to Wolverine, and he pops his claws through Doctor Cornelius' bottom jaw straight to the top of his head. Finally, Lady Deathstrike attacks from behind as well, but she is dealt with just as quickly as the others.

It's here that Wolverine realizes that Lady Deathstrike is really Marvel Girl. Instead of Lady Deathstrike being impaled on Wolverine's claws, it's Jean Grey. The three X-Men must have realized Wolverine wasn't in his right mind, which is why they try to stop him with sneak attacks. Sabretooth more than likely is Domino, with Quentin Quire standing in for Doctor Cornelius since the former can create a psychic gun.

The big mystery right now will be how Wolverine deals with the knowledge that he killed his teammates, friends and former lovers. Though they often butt heads, Wolverine and Kid Omega do have mutual respect for each other, and Logan has also been romantically involved with both Domino and Jean. He won't take kindly to being manipulated in this way.
