Wolverine is one of the most prolific lone wolves in the Marvel Universe. There's a really good reason for this: His healing factor, unbreakable skeleton, and skills have let him survive some pretty harrowing situations over the years. Wolverine often finds himself in fights where teaming up with another hero would be an automatic death sentence for whoever was with him and he prefers to not have to worry about things like that.

That said, there have been times when Wolverine needed to bring another hero into his missions. These team-ups have gone either quite well or pretty terribly, depending on how well he got along with that partner.

10 Likes To Team-Up With: Colossus

Wolverine and Colossus are two very different men. Wolverine is dark and brooding while Colossus is a nice guy with the soul of an artist. Their friendship has always seemed pretty improbable but it's proven to be one of the most important of Wolverine's life. Their time training and battling together as X-Men have made them one of the best duos the team has.

Colossus has often been a difference maker for the X-Men and Wolverine likes to team up with him because he doesn't have to worry about Colossus getting killed when they're teaming together. Whether it be wrecking a bar together or taking on villains, there are few heroes Wolverine would rather team-up with.

9 Can't Stand: Cyclops

cyclops

Cyclops and Wolverine have a difficult relationship. Wolverine respects Cyclops's prowess as a leader but the two men have spent most of the time they've known each other in some kind of conflict. While their current relationship is better than it's been in years, Wolverine and Cyclops still have some issues with each other. When it comes right down to it, Wolverine would rather not have to deal with Cyclops at all.

There's just too much water under the bridge between the two. While Wolverine would give his life to protect Cyclops, their relationship is always on a knife edge and for that reason, Wolverine would pretty much rather team up with just about any other X-Men.

8 Likes To Team-Up With: Nightcrawler

Classic X-Men 45 Wolverine And Nightcrawler

Wolverine and Nightcrawler are basically the X-Men's odd couple— two very different men who have found the kind of lasting friendship that most people never have with others that they have a lot of common with. Nightcrawler's religious nature and lust for life contrast completely with Wolverine's ideals but these differences have never stood in the way of the men's relationship.

Wolverine trusts Nightcrawler in a way that he trusts very few other people in the world. The years they've spent fighting together as X-Men have made them a formidable duo and the two would go to any length to help each other.

7 Can't Stand: Spider-Man

Spider-Man feature 1

One of the first times Wolverine and Spider-Man teamed up, they ended up fighting each other and that antagonism defined their relationship for years. They were forced to work closely together as Avengers and their stark differences as people made them clash pretty much from the word go. While they proved to be a pretty good team in battle, their animosity always shone through.

Both men learned mutual respect for each other because of having to work together but that doesn't mean they like each other very much. They can tolerate each other better than before but neither would willingly choose to work together if they didn't have to.

6 Likes To Team-Up With: Storm

Wolverine and Storm have always had a rather amazing relationship. Wolverine respects Storm in a way he respects few others. For years, he followed her orders while she was leader of the X-Men and their differences made them able to confide in the other. They were even romantically involved for a time.

Storm's powers make her one of the most formidable X-Men and Wolverine often needs power like that in some of the situations he finds himself involved in. They've worked together for years and if Storm needs help, Wolverine is there in a jiffy and vice versa. They're best friends and amazing partners in battle.

5 Can't Stand: Kid Omega

Kid Omega posing for the camera

Wolverine and Kid Omega got off to a very rough start. Quentin Quire started a riot at the Xavier School and used his mental powers on Wolverine. Their relationship wouldn't get any better from there. Wolverine tried to take the kid under his wing, but Kid Omega wasn't very receptive to the whole thing and the two butted heads a lot.

Since the establishment of Krakoa, the two of them have been working together in X-Force and their relationship hasn't gotten much better. Kid Omega still has a huge chip in his shoulder and doesn't listen very well, which isn't exactly conducive to black ops work. Wolverine respects Kid Omega's power, but that's about it.

4 Likes To Team-Up With: Katherine Pryde

Wolverine Kitty Pryde X-Men

Wolverine has a tendency to take teenagers under his wing, trying to teach them to survive in a very hard world. Kate Pryde was the first young X-Man that Wolverine decided to train and she is one of the most successful. Without Wolverine's tutelage, Kate still would have ended up as a great hero but their time together made her even more formidable than she would have been otherwise.

Kate Pryde and Wolverine have been through a lot together and there are few people Wolverine would rather have watch his back, which is extremely high praise from him. She's grown a lot during the time they've known each other and there is just about no one Wolverine trusts like her.

3 Can't Stand: Magneto

dawn of x magneto

Magneto has long been one of the X-Men's greatest foes but in recent years, he's been a member of the team. One of the leading lights of the mutant nation of Krakoa, Magneto's villainous days are behind him but Wolverine hasn't forgotten. Magneto handed Wolverine one of the worst defeats of his life and that's not something Wolverine can forgive.

If Magneto was on fire, Wolverine would let him burn for a while before trying to save him. Wolverine will do anything for the mutant race, but teaming up with Magneto would be a road too far for him. He'd do it if he had, but he'd probably stab Magneto at the end just out of general principle.

2 Likes To Team-Up With: Jean Grey

Wolverine is in love with Jean Grey and would pretty much do anything for her. While he doesn't like to take his friends into dangerous situations, Jean Grey is one of the most powerful X-Men of them all and he knows that he doesn't have to worry about her in battle. On top of that, there are few people Wolverine trusts in the world more than her.

Wolverine knows that Jean is one of the most experienced X-Men and can handle just about anything. He knows he can trust her with anything and that if it came right down to it, she'd do anything for him and he would do anything for her.

1 Can't Stand: Deadpool

Deadpool and Wolverine are side by side

Wolverine and Deadpool are a good tea: Two pretty much invulnerable people who are great fighters. Deadpool really likes Wolverine but Wolverine isn't exactly receptive to Deadpool's charms. Deadpool's personality completely clashes with Wolverine's; Wolverine isn't averse to humor but he definitely doesn't like Deadpool's madcap style.

Wolverine will team up with Deadpool if he has to but he tries to make sure he doesn't have to. Wolverine is an easy man to annoy and Deadpool pushes his buttons in a way that few people ever have.
