Marvel Comics has released Adam Kubert's cover for the upcoming Wolverine #1. Kubert will team with writer Benjamin Percy and fellow artist Victor Bogdonavic to document how Wolverine protects the mutant island of Krakoa from the humans who would exploit its extraordinary resources.

“We all have that character," Percy said in a statement. "The one we love more than any other. The one we treasure in books and movies and maybe memorialize with a t-shirt or tattoo. The one we relate to as a cracked-mirror version of ourselves. For me—as a growly, grumpy, hairy, smelly, muscled, flannel-clad, whiskey-swilling loner who lives in the woods of the frozen north—it's Logan. And though this might sound corny, it also feels right to say that writing Wolverine is a dream come true, a childhood fantasy realized. No kidding, bub.

"As a reader, I've been chasing down Wolverine stories since I was a dopey kid haunting the spinner racks and comic shops," he continued. "As a writer, I've spent the past two years living in his haunted head as I hammered out two ten-episode seasons of the audio drama, Wolverine: The Long Night and Wolverine: The Lost Trail. And I've been spending even more time with the Ol' Canucklehead over the past year building stories for X-Force as part of the new Dawn of X. You could say that I've been in the Danger Room for a long time, sharpening my claws, training for this moment."

Percy also gave praise to some of the many creators who have helped shaped Wolverine's legacy over the many decades.

"I am deeply aware of the character's legacy. And I'm deeply respectful of all the great writers who have come before me, from Aaron to Windsor-Smith to Claremont, and more, so many more," Percy added. "But I'm also completely geeked to put my own (slash) mark on the character for as long as I'm his custodian. And I couldn't be more excited to join forces with one of the most iconic artists to ever bring Logan to savage life: Adam Kubert. He's handing in art that will make your eyes melt out of your skull. Hot damn is this going to be fun. And you can bet your ass we're putting our whole heart into making a kickass comic for you all to enjoy.”
