Wolverine is about to receive a new ongoing series as part of Dawn of X, the line-wide relaunch of Marvel's X-Men titles, and writer Benjamin Percy has revealed the first details about his upcoming run.
In an exclusive interview with CBR, Percy noted that the debut issue -- illustrated by Adam Kubert and Victor Bogdonavic -- is not only larger than the typical comic book issue but contains two different stories pitting Logan in different kinds of adventures as he moves into the brave, new world of Dawn of X.
"The first issue is oversized. I’m not sure I’m allowed to say just how long it is yet, but know that it contains two separate stories that are extremely different in tone," Percy explained. "One is a crime/adventure/mystery story that wrestles with memory and identity. The other is a horror/adventure story (with a dash of romance in it) that tackles questions about history and the toll and responsibility of immortality."
X-Men #1 revealed that Wolverine was evidently in a polyamorous relationship with Jean Grey based on their housing arrangement with Cyclops. Whether the true nature of this dynamic will be explored in the upcoming run has yet to be seen.
Wolverine #1, by Benjamin Percy, Adam Kubert and Victor Bogdonavic, goes on sale in February from Marvel Comics.
