'Wizard of Oz' Medical Drama in Works at CBS

If you only had a brain, perhaps you would have dreamed up this winning concept sooner than the wizards at CBS: a Wizard of Oz medical drama.

Yes, a Wizard of Oz medical drama is indeed a thing that is happening. Entertainment Weekly reports the network is developing a series called Dorothy, described as "a medical soap based in New York City, inspired by the characters and themes immortalized in The Wizard of Oz." The show comes from Ghost Whisperer writer Emily Fox and Justified and Elementary alums Carl Beverly and Sarah Timberman. There's no word on casting, when the series will begin production, or any plot information beyond the thinly detailed log line.

Dorothy is just the latest attempt to recapture the magic of The Wizard of Oz for the small-screen. Over at Syfy, the network is attempting Warriors of Oz, a Timur Bekmambetov-helmed miniseries in which "a warrior from present day Earth is transported to a post-apocalyptic future Oz where he must team up with three other warriors, Heartless, Brainless and Coward, in order to defeat the evil Wizard who has enslaved the land."
