Titans has been one of the biggest reasons to subscribe to DC Universe. It was soon joined by a bevy of similar, though arguably much better live-action DC programming, as well as the recent animated series Harley Quinn. For all of these other shows, however, it seems that they've all found homes elsewhere.

Swamp Thing was a one-season wonder, Doom Patrol and Harley Quinn are off to HBO Max and Stargirl is sure to get a downgrade on its new home of the CW. Titans, soon to have a third season, is still seemingly stuck at its original location, one which may not be long for this world. There are certainly options to place Titans elsewhere when the DC Universe app likely becomes focused solely on comics, but even these possibilities have their problems.

THE CW

Arrowverse Titans

One possibility is that, like with Stargirl, any future seasons of Titans could simply move to The CW. After all, the show is based on DC Comics' The New Teen Titans, with teens and young adults being the prime audience for The CW. The show also "interacted with the CW's Arrowverse," albeit in the cheapest way possible, during the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover event.

The main problem with airing the show on this network is the content. The show is known, sometimes infamously, for its graphic depictions of violence, harsh language and sexuality. Even as raw as Arrow occasionally gets, the show never reached the same levels of gratuity as Titans. Likewise, toning down these elements to fit in on network television would certainly rub the show's fans the wrong way, and reek of narratively selling out and watering down the show's content.

Another issue is that, with The CW and Arrowverse having such a crowded schedule, it would be hard to somehow fit the show in. Sure, it could air late at night during the summer when other shows have finished their seasons, but it might still be too much of an issue for the network, which is already accused by some as relying too heavily on DC properties.

HBO MAX

HBO Max is another potential destination for the show's future seasons, and the precedent for its moving there has already been set with Harley Quinn and Doom Patrol beating it there. Conversely, unlike with The CW, it wouldn't need to worry about toning down its content or lowering its production values. Being on HBO Max would likely provide an even better budget than the DC Universe offered. There are still reasons why the show might not be welcome here either, however.

Like with The CW, there's the branding risk of having too much superhero and DC related content on the platform. After all, HBO is a prestigious name in the world of television and is known for shows like Westworld and Game of Thrones. There upcoming DC productions for HBO Max, such as Green Lantern, but this and other similar projects will involve franchises and concepts that are too big in scope for normal network television. Titans might comparatively be too pedestrian, both in its scope and general production value. While it's certainly a step up from the more soap opera-esque fare on The CW, it still isn't considered at the level of HBO's prestige programming.

There is the chance that, with the other shows moving elsewhere, that Titans and its universe will become the sole productions on DC Universe. The budget once allotted to the other shows could instead be used to bolster Titans, or even create the show's rumored spinoffs. That way, the app still has a hook for audiences besides just its library of comic books. There have been no talks of the show ending anytime soon, let alone moving to a different platform or network, so for now, at least, DC Universe is the Titansverse.
