Despite the fact that filming recently wrapped on The Witcher, photos are still emerging on the Internet, the most recent of which showcase Marco Polo star Mahesh Jadu in full costume as who appears to be the powerful sorcerer Vilgefortz.

The images were taken months ago in April, when filming took place in Poland at Ogrodzieniec Castle. The images were originally posted on Redanian Intelligence. While they were clearly taken from a distance, the level of detail is great enough that the important features of Jadu's costume, such as the black leather and gold armor pieces, are clearly displayed.

Fans of the massively successful Witcher video game series will have heard the name Vilgefortz, though many may not be familiar with the character as he appears exclusively in the Andrzej Sapkowski's novel series as a major antagonist in several short stories. In a nutshell, Vilgefortz is a young sorcerer -- though "young" for sorcerers is at least a century old -- who dabbles in politics and magic in his mad pursuit for power. Few sorcerers could hope to stand against him in battle.

It's unknown which aspects of his story will be adapted for the series. Hissrich has stated that Netflix's The Witcher will remain faithful to Sapkowski's novels, and past glimpses at set pieces and characters indicate that much of Season 1 will focus on the events and stories of The Last Wish and The Sword of Destiny. However, considering the fact that Vilgefortz first appears in Blood of Elves, it's evident that Season 1 draws inspiration from a broader range of stories.
