Less than two months since its series premiere on Netflix and principal photography, filming has reportedly begun for The Witcher Season 2.According to entertainment news reporter Daniel Richtman, filming has begun for the dark fantasy series sophomore season. Pre-production on Season 2 reportedly begun before its series premiere this past December, with this month seeing an increased push in casting for new roles. Among the expected new characters is fan-favorite actor Kristofer Hivju as the cursed character Nivellen, who appeared in several short stories written by franchise creator Andrzej Sapkowski.

An official premiere date for Season 2 has not yet been announced, though returning showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich previously indicated the series is aiming for a return sometime in 2021. Additionally, there has yet to be an official confirmation from Netflix or the series production that filming has begun, including the return of series' star Henry Cavill as the titular Witcher.
