According to a new message from Monster Hunter's Twitter, "Ready your blades! Geralt of Rivia from [The Witcher] voyages into [Monster Hunter: World] in a free title update on Feb 8."
“Worlds will collide with the next big Monster Hunter: World collaboration – The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt!” Capcom boasted recently. “Step into the shoes of Geralt of Rivia and leverage his expert monster hunting skills as you take on a unique quest line in Monster Hunter: World.”
Capcom's Monster Hunter series has been around since 2004, and its latest installment came out January of last year. The RPG tasks players to hunt down and kill or trap monsters. The integration of Geralt into their story seems a natural fit, since his profession as a Witcher is to hunt down and kill monsters.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt came out in 2015 and was Geralt's introduction to a wider audience. Geralt is also the lead in eight novels from Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. The first two books followed the Witcher through a series of short stories and adventures, which would introduce several characters he'd encounter again as they set up a five-novel series that followed.
Both Monster Hunter: World and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt were extremely well-received upon their respective releases, so this new free update is sure to thrill fans of both games. As an added bonus, Doug Cockle will return to voice Geralt, keeping the voice consistent since the first game released in 2007. He last voiced the Witcher in another crossover with 2018's Soulcalibur VI.
Available on both PS4 and the Xbox One, this new crossover between Monster Hunter: World and The Witcher drops on February 8.
