The Witcher story has always focused primarily on Geralt and Ciri. A father's quest to find and save his daughter, a lover's quest to find his way back to the place his heart dwells, CD Projekt Red's exploration of Andrzej Sapkowski's Witcherverse deviated from the core story in the first two games by giving Geralt amnesia. As he stumbled through the world again and refamiliarized himself with people who once knew him, the game presented players with a colorful cast of characters who all have stories of their own.

These NPCs reach out and touch the hearts and minds of players, leaving many wondering what an adventure from their point of view might be like. With everything presented primarily through Geralt's lens, with Ciri adding her perspective in Wild Hunt, players are presented with a world heavily colored by a witcher's philosophy and perspective. Considering how differently people in the world tend to think when compared to witchers, a game from the POV of a non-witcher NPC could put a whole new spin on an already fascinating worldview. Alternatively, there are also plenty of other witchers who'd make fine central heroes.

Vesemir

Witcher 3 Vesemir and Geralt

As Geralt's mentor and father figure, Vesemir is one of the most fascinating NPCs in the game. His history is so colorful that he's even getting his own animated film, which confirms there is plenty of stories to tell from Vesemir's point of view. He virtually taught Geralt everything he knows, not just about being a witcher but about the world itself. He was considered the oldest living witcher before his untimely death in Wild Hunt, which means he's certainly seen his share of adventure across his century and a half.

Witchers tend to avoid involving themselves in political and social affairs, preferring to stick to what they do best: killing monsters. Yet, at every turn, they find themselves presented with choices they aren't supposed to make. One can't help but wonder the choices a witcher like Vesemir faced and how he dealt with them. He may be seen cautioning Geralt not to get involved, but how often did he involve himself in things that weren't a witcher's focus?

Dandelion

Geralt's longtime friend and ally, Dandelion, is a storyteller at heart. CD Projekt Red drew from that in their games, giving his character the honor of relating Geralt and Ciri's story to the player as the narrator. A womanizing lecher always getting himself into trouble, it's hard to imagine how a character like Dandelion manages to survive when Geralt's not around. The thing is, Geralt and Dandelion were separated far more often than they were together, which gave the bard plenty of time to get into mischief on his own.

Dandelion even worked as a spy for Redania and Temeria, reluctantly reporting his findings to Dijkstra, who was always looking for ways to outwit Nilfgaard and his own king. Highly sought after as a performer, Dandelion found himself in places the rich, powerful and political gathered, which gave him access to information others might not so easily get their hands on. Such an intriguing story opportunity opens the whole world for further exploration, giving a fan-favorite character the chance to shine on his own.

Sigismund Dijkstra

Political intrigue is a fascinating aspect of the Witcher franchise, with the Northern Kingdoms working hard to protect themselves from Nilfgaard and each other as they struggle to claim power. This makes Sigismund Dijkstra a primary candidate for a fascinating spinoff full of court intrigues and political machinations. Dijkstra started small, but in time his actions led him into an incredible position of power, which he had no bones about exploiting to further empower himself in such a way that few would dare to cross him.

In a pre-war setting, there is a lot of potential surrounding a game that features Dijkstra and his spy network. He's involved in everything from stealthy information gathering and criminal activities to high stakes passion with a powerful sorceress and hobnobbing with the upper class. Depending on choices made in Wild Hunt, Dijkstra could become a powerful figurehead, meaning there's tons to explore from his point of view.

Eredin Bréacc Glas

Eredin Bréacc Glas, King of the Wild Hunt, is one of those characters who begs to be fleshed out. All the player ever sees is his relentless pursuit of Ciri and constant striving for more power. He was Lord of the Hunt, named so by King Auberon Muircetach, and spent centuries leading his ghostly riders across the planes of existence to round up and capture slaves to bring back to Tir Na Lia.

Not much is actually known about Eredin before he served as Auberon's general, so a lot is left to the imagination, making it ripe for further exploration. His actions in Sapkowski's books and the video games leave players longing to know more about what drives this merciless wraith across the cosmos in search of endless power. Are the Alder Folk simply horrendous beings bent on enslaving all those they deem lower, or is there something more to Eredin's pursuit for power?

Yennefer of Vengerberg

Witcher 3 Yennefer and her Nilfgaardian escort

Yennefer, like Geralt and Ciri, is one of the most iconic characters in the franchise. Though players are given a demonstration of her power and influence in Wild Hunt, it barely begins to scratch the surface. Yennefer's story is as powerful and intriguing as Geralt's, and her drive to reach and save Cirilla is equally compelling. A woman who discovered that her pursuit of power left her barren discovered that she would never be a mother, yet Fate intervened and brought Ciri into her life.

One can't help but wonder what happened to Yennefer when she was taken by the Wild Hunt, and where was she after Geralt rescued her? Yennefer's life is rich with adventure. Giving her a platform to explore the world around her could provide fans with an exciting game filled with magic, power, political intrigue and romance that has nothing to do with Geralt at all.
