After the grueling work of hunting monsters and dealing with the problems of peasants and nobles alike, a new mod finally lets The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's Geralt of Rivia relax with some snowboarding.

Available via NexusMods, the downloadable content allows the Witcher to zoom through the world atop a multipurpose snowboard, as displayed in a YouTube video by its creator, Lukas. Taking his character to an alter atop the snowy mountains of Skellige, the player finds the item waiting for him, conveniently placed high up for an immediate downhill ride.

The mod has a lot of new things to offer players of the critically acclaimed game. The snowboard not only serves as a magical item for fast-paced sliding, but is also a weapon. Functioning in much the same way as either of Geralt's two swords, the snowboard is capable of slicing through opponents in spite of its excessive size. As for the snowboarding itself, the video demonstrates that it is not only quicker than any other movement in The Witcher 3, but also able to defy the laws of physics. Although the video depicts a lot of downhill momentum, Geralt seems just as capable of sliding uphill. Additionally, the mod provides some extra style with a set of wearable snow goggles. However, it does come at the cost of sacrificing the appearance of Geralt's silver sword and crossbow in order to "avoid clipping."

The mod was inspired by a pre-existing animation within the game. When Geralt approaches a sloping surface that is too steep, he will slide down it in much the same way. Many players found this to be comically exploitable in the mountainous region of Skellige, where they could often surf down entire cliffs. This mod simply extends this fun mechanic, allowing it to occur continuously and without the need for a downhill start. However, for some further immersion, the modder suggests downloading additional mods to increase the amount of snow across the isles.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was released in 2015 by Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red, and has since been celebrated as one of the best RPG games to date. Its popularity has resulted in various mods for the games -- of which Lukas has contributed over 20 -- with content such as "Unique Eyes for Witchers." Some mods have even gone on to try and replicate the looks of the characters from the Netflix series The Witcher, making the game's Geralt look more like Henry Cavill.
