Some very exciting and good news has recently surfaced regarding The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, regarding a way for players of the popular action-RPG to carry their hard-earned progress from the PC version over to the Nintendo Switch.  This will allow players to continue their adventures on the go, or simply have another platform available to play on, without having to start their journey all over again.

PC Gamer has reported that the Switch version of the game, released back in October 2019, has received a new update, lovingly titled the "Switcher" update.  The update allows players to connect to their Steam and GOG.com accounts and transfer save files from those services to the Switch version, which is a saving grace for a game that, as many can attest to, is absolutely massive.

The standard base game by itself is already 50+ hours' worth of gameplay, and the DLC expansions Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine can easily double that, demanding even more time for those wanting to scour every bit of the dark fantasy RPG's world.  Finding the time to complete it all can be a daunting task, and while fans of the Witcher series now have this third title available on all three major consoles, the idea of having to start fresh on another system will more than likely turn many off of the prospect, so the option to carry over progress from elsewhere is a very welcome addition.

As far as accessing the new save transfer option, a Cloud Saves option now appears on the menu screen, prompting players to select from either Steam or GOG to transfer save files from.  Keep in mind that the official website also warns of bugs should you transfer a save that had mods enabled on the PC version. Players may want to disable any non-essential mods before taking their adventure on the go.

The game's developer, CD Projekt Red, has also confirmed that this option is currently only available for the Nintendo Switch version, and not for the Playstation 4 or Xbox One versions. Players on those platforms will have to wait and see if the studio tosses this coin to them, as well.
