It’s certainly understandable if fans of Bucky Barnes scoured the Black Panther trailer and subsequent photos for signs of the Winter Soldier. After all, he was last seen in Captain America: Civil War, he was granted asylum in Wakanda and placed in cryogenic sleep. However, you can stop looking, because, as actor Sebastian Stan makes clear, he doesn’t show up in Black Panther.
“I am not in Black Panther,” Stan told Good Morning America in the D23 Expo, seemingly anticipating the interviewer’s question. “I did not have any relation with Black Panther,” he continued in a nod to President Clinton that drew a laugh from co-star Anthony Mackie.

“No, really, I’m not,” Stan added. “But, y’know, that gets resolved in this one [Avengers: Infinity War].”
Indeed, a description of footage from the film screened Saturday at Disney’s D23 Expo indicated Winter Soldier and Black Panther were seen in a series of quick shots that also depicted Star-Lord, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, The Vision, Captain America, Iron Man and Black Widow.
Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Infinity War boasts a sprawling ensemble cast that includes Robert Downey Jr., Josh Brolin, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Olsen, Sebastian Stan, Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Bettany, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Benedict Wong, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, Pom Klementieff, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Holland and Anthony Mackie. The film arrives in theaters May 4, 2018, with the untitled sequel opening May 3, 2019.
