William Shatner has confirmed he recorded a voice role for the upcoming seventh season of "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic."

The "Star Trek" icon, who referred to himself as a brony in a handful of tweets over the past couple of years, teased his appearance on the popular animated series just last week, when he responded to a plea from a fan to contribute a voice to the show. "What makes you think I haven't?" Shatner wrote.

However, on Thursday the actor, who once named Rainbow Dash as his favorite Pony, finally dropped the coy act in his reply to a fan who asked whether it's true "you might do voice work for #MLPSeason7":

Debuting in 2010, "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic" centers on studious unicorn pony Twilight Sparkle and her close friends Applejack, Rarity, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie as they learn about friendship and help others in Equestria. The animated fantasy-comedy has developed a dedicated following among young and middle-aged men who refer to themselves as "bronies."

An animated feature based on the series, "My Little Pony: The Movie," will be released in October, featuring television cast members Tara Strong, Ashleigh Ball, Andrea Libman, Tabitha St. Germain and Cathy Weseluck. The seventh season of "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic" debuts this spring on Discovery Family.
