Originally airing from 1990 to 1996, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air starred Will Smith, James Avery, Janet Hubert-Whitten and Alfonso Ribeiro, in addition to many others. The show followed a fictionalized version of Smith being uprooted from West Philadelphia to Bel-Air after a fight. The immensely popular sitcom helped launch Smith's acting career, which has consisted of such films as I, RobotI am Legend and Gemini ManSmith was working on a reboot of Fresh Prince of Bel-Air in 2015 through his Overbrook Entertainment, but no such project materialized.

If this project does indeed go forward, it would be the latest in a long line of '90s television series that have seen reboots and revivals over the last few years. Other sitcoms that have received -- or are in the process of receiving -- this treatment include Full House and Saved by the Bell.

Smith's current project, Gemini Man, is in theaters now. The movie is directed by Ang Lee from a script written by David Benioff, Billy Ray and Darren Lemke. The film also stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Clive Owen and Benedict Wong.
