Aaron Taylor-Johnson likes to mix things up. Although he'd been acting for years, his big break came in 2010 with the superhero comedy Kick-Ass. Since then he's appeared in Albert Nobbs and Oliver Stone's Savages, and he has Anna Karenina and Kick-Ass 2 on the way.

According to Deadline, the actor is also up for the lead in Gareth Edwards' Godzilla, but he's said to be waiting on Frank Darabont's script rewrite to make a decision.

Edwards got the gig after impressing many with his micro-budget giant-monster movie Monsters. The film is being produced by Legendary Pictures and will be distributed by Warner Bros. everywhere except Japan where Godzilla franchise owners Toho will take on those responsibilities. It's set for release on May 16, 2014.
