Director Shawn Levy wants to re-team with his Real Steel star Hugh Jackman for the James Cameron-produced 3D remake of Fantastic Voyage. And, really, who can blame him?
Deadline reports that Jackman is Levy's first choice for the project, which would keep the actor in the Fox fold while the studio regroups on The Wolverine following the departure of director Darren Aronofsky and the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
Levy is said to have beat out such names as Aronofsky, Timur Bekmambetov, Jonathan Mostow and Louis Leterrier for Fantastic Voyage, a re-imagining of the 1966 sci-film in which a team of scientists shrink to save the life of a foreign dignitary from within his body.
Real Steel, Levy and Jackman's movie about futuristic robot boxing, doesn't open until Oct. 7, but DreamWorks is already moving forward on a sequel. Deadline also notes that Fox has struck a deal for the duo to tackle an untitled action-adventure pitch from Lost co-creator Carlton Cuse.
