Will Dwayne Johnson Dive Right in For 'Baywatch' Movie?

Is Dwayne Johnson getting fitted for an iconic red bathing suit? That just might be the case, according to The Hollywood Reporter, which reveals the actor is "loosely attached" to star in Paramount Pictures' big-screen on Baywatch.

We're the Millers and Horrible Bosses 2 directors Sean Anders and John Morris are on board the project, with Justin Malen (Bad Teacher 2) rewriting the script. Previous drafts involved a series of shark attacks that leads the Baywatch team into a drug-smuggling investigation.

Baywatch aired on television from 1989 to 2001, first on NBC and then in syndication.Known for its attractive stars, the California life-guard drama boasted a cast that included David Hasselhoff, Pamela Anderson, Nicole Eggert, David Chokachi, Yasmine Bleeth, Donna D'Errico, Traci Bingham and Jason Momoa.

Wildly popular at the time, Baywatch developed a supernatural-tinged spinoff called Baywatch Nights, and rebranded itself as Baywatch Hawaii during its final two seasons.
