Across the Marvel multiverse, there are countless versions of many classic heroes like Spider-Man and Wolverine, each having their own unique life and story. And in one world, the mid-90s marked a turning point for the Marvel Universe, where time actually progressed forward in a more natural way. As the current generation of heroes either died or grew out of their roles as Earth's protectors, a new generation of heroes stepped up to protect Marvel's MC2 Universe.

While that world's most famous hero is Peter Parker and Mary Jane Parker's daughter Spider-Girl, she was only one of several heroic children to follow in their parents' footsteps. Now, we're taking a closer look at one of MC2's most underrated heroes, Wild Thing, the superhero daughter of Wolverine and Elektra.

WHAT IS THE MC2 UNIVERSE?

Wild Thing is a resident of Earth-982, otherwise known as the MC2 Universe.  The MC2 world is a reality where the Marvel Heroes have gotten the chance to fully grow up and lead fully formed lives, in some cases dying off, forming families, or generally moving on from their roles as superheroes. By this point in the future, only certain heroes remain active, such as the Fantastic Five's Human Torch and the Thing. Meanwhile, other heroes like Spider-Man, Iron Man and Thor have retired from active hero work.

After losing so many members for one reason or another, the X-Men and Avengers have effectively disbanded. Due to mutant-hysteria having died down since the Earth-saving sacrifice the X-Men made, Jubilee leads the X-People in a future that doesn't outright hate and fear them. A new generation of heroes even rose up to take the place of the former heroes, which led to the formation of a new version of the Avengers known as A-Next. These heroes include many direct relatives of heroes, such as J2 (Juggernaut's son), American Dream (Sharon Carter's niece), Stinger (a fully grown Cassie Lang) and Spider-Girl (Spider-Man's daughter). But some of their allies didn't join the team directly except in time of extreme crisis, such as Rina Logan, Wild Thing.

WHO IS WILD THING?

Wild Thing MC2

Despite her name and her savage parents, Rina Logan had a relatively stable life. Wolverine and Elektra are shown to be a surprisingly stable couple, and Rina grew up up to be a fairly down-to-earth young woman who was at peace with the more unrestrained side that she inherited from Wolverine. However, she was cursed with their natural instinct to push back against authority and fight. Rina is blessed with the natural grace of her assassin mother, along with the healing factor and enhanced senses that make her father such a tenacious hunter. Although she does not possess physical claws like Wolverine, she instead has a pair of psychic sais -- similar to Betsy Braddock's psychic blade -- that can cause telepathic anguish if they connect with a target.

After debuting in Tom DeFalco and Ron Lim's J2 #5, Wild Thing became a friend and ally to heroes like J2 and the rest of A-Next. Rina proved capable of even keeping up with her father on a mission while partnered up with Hulk and Doctor Strange, fighting an entire group of Wendigos. She even earned Hulk's respect for being capable of holding her own against him during a brief brawl. Her habit of being a little too eager to get into a fight would land her in trouble, but her skills always saw her escape any real danger. Wild Thing was more than skilled enough to be offered a spot among the X-People, but decided she wants to make her own way in the world. In her civilian life, Rina acts as a regular high school student - attracting the scorn of her school's alpha-rich girl Cameron and the attention of the sweet-hearted Colin.

After her short-lived solo series ended, Wild Thing still took the time to with her fellow heroes, When many of the world's older heroes are kidnapped by Loki in the Last Hero Standing miniseries, Wild Thing working heavily with A-Next. Her enhanced senses proving crucial to leading the Avengers to Loki's portals and his plans in Asgard, although her natural snarkiness didn't endear her to Captain America. She worked alongside the team to bring down a corrupted Hulk and was present when the Steve Rogers of this world died.

While Wild Thing hasn't received many specific foes, she has one very specific relationship that stands out: the tenous one between her and Saberclaw. Saberclaw is her savage half-brother Hudson, the son of Wolverine and an unknown woman. He began as a villain who hated her and tried to kill her multiple times. But Saberclaw eventually had a change of heart and helped defeat Loki's daughter Sylene. A-Next gave Saberclaw the chance to fully join up the team, opening up the possibility that the pair could eventually form a stronger relationship.

Alongside the rest of the MC2 heroes, Wild Thing and Sabreclaw even came together to save Spider-Girl when she was captured by the Hobgoblin. While she may not be the most prominent hero of her universe and hasn't made more than a cameo in over a decade, Wild Thing is still a compelling answer to the question of what a child raised by Wolverine in a stable environment would look like.
