The following contains spoilers for Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi Episode 4, "The Sith Lord," now streaming on Disney+.

Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi creator Dave Filoni recently revealed why Yaddle doesn't speak in the same backwards manner as Master Yoda in the Disney+ animated anthology series.

Filoni addressed Yaddle's more conventional use of syntax in an interview with Nerdist. "Does she speak backwards? I'm like, 'No, I don't think so. I think that's a Yoda thing,'" he said."[Yoda voice actor and puppeteer] Frank Oz told me once that Yoda speaks that way specifically in honor of his own master. That was what he had thought about it. I try to keep moving forward [with] these thoughts. And [Yaddle voice actor] Bryce [Dallas Howard] on her own made a great Yaddle.”

In the same interview, Filoni remarked on the overlap between Yaddle and Howard's personalities, noting that Yaddle's courage during her duel with Count Dooku (Corey Burton) reflects Howard's own resolve. He also expressed interest in seeing Howard direct an animated Star Wars project at some point in the future. Filoni rationalized this by noting how complimentary the actor and filmmaker is of the franchise's animated output to date. Howard has helmed episodes of live-action shows The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett but is yet to collaborate with Lucasfilm's animation department.

Tales of the Jedi Reunites Star Wars Acting Greats

Filoni gave no indication that Howard is ready to spearhead her own animated movie or TV series, so for now, it seems he'll have to content himself with her vocal performance in Tales of the Jedi. Howard previously called the opportunity to act in a Star Wars project a dream come true, and she finds herself among impressive company in the anthology series. Notably, Oscar-nominee Liam Neeson returns as Qui-Gon Jinn, a role he first played in 1999's Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. Neeson's fellow franchise veteran Ian McDiarmid is also back in Tales of the Jedi, voicing the Sheev Palpatine/Darth Sidious character he first brought to life in 1983's Star Wars: Return of the Jedi.

Fans of animated shows Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels will also appreciate the involvement of Ashley Eckstein, who plays Ahsoka Tano once more. Eckstein now shares the Ahsoka part with live-action performer Rosario Dawson, a situation the voice actor insists she isn't bothered by.

All six episodes of Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi are currently streaming on Disney+.
