While Eternals is seemingly slated to pit the titular heroes against the Deviants, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is filled with bigger, badder foes pulling the strings from behind the scenes. In this video, we're going to explain why we think Oblivion will actually be the major villain in Eternals, as hinted at by a toy release.

Created by J.M. DeMatteis and Alan Kupperberg, Oblivion first appeared in 1985's Iceman #2. While the cosmic villain isn't too closely linked with the Eternals a leaked toy of Kro -- one of the Deviants -- might just be the important link. Kro has a complicated relationship with the Eternals, particularly Thena. The back of the toy hints at Kro being "the Harbinger for a global threat," which we think may be Oblivion.

Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, it's not totally clear just what shape the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will take. While there's a good indication the characters that Disney acquired from 21st Century Fox will soon arrive, there's not much solid information on just when or how that might happen. Right now, there are a lot of potential directions the MCU could take going forward, though exactly which one it will take remains to be seen.
