After Disney acquired Fox -- and thus that studio's various Marvel characters -- fans have been speculating about how the X-Men will join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The popular characters are definitely coming, though just in what form isn't totally clear at this time. In this video, we're going to explain why we think the upcoming Eternals film will be the one to finally introduce mutants, and thus the X-Men, to the MCU.

So far, the Celestials have generally had a background presence in the MCU, with various characters explaining just how powerful the beings were. In the comics, the Celestials are responsible for creating the Eternals and their counterparts, the Deviants. These were, essentially, mutations. Depending on how things go, these mutations could eventually result in mutants, and thus the X-Men.

Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, it's not totally clear just what shape the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will take. While there's a good indication the characters that Disney acquired from 21st Century Fox will soon arrive, there's not much solid information on just when or how that might happen. Right now, there are a lot of potential directions the MCU could take going forward, though exactly which one it will take remains to be seen.
