Crossover fighting games have been pretty common for quite some time. Taking two fighting game franchises and combining them to make an original game has led to some of the most memorable fighting titles the world has ever seen. While there are plenty of excellent crossover fighting games, many fans are still waiting for Mortal Kombat and Killer Instinct to join forces and turn the fighting game genre on its head.

Mortal Kombat and Killer Instinct were two of the edger fighting games during the 1990s. Both games were less cartoony and featured a bit more violence than other fighting games at the time. The games became two of the most popular arcade fighters of the era and gained many loyal fans that still follow the franchises to this day.

Both games still have a large fanbase so combining the two brutal fighting games seems like a no brainer. Even Mortal Kombat creator ED Boone has expressed interest in MK/KI crossover in the past. It's about time for Mortal Kombat and Killer Instinct to team up and give video game fans the bloody fighting experience many of them crave.

As stated before, Mortal Kombat and Killer Instinct are two of the more mature fighting game franchises on the market. Both games feature buckets of blood and finishing moves that will make even the most hardened fighting game fan squirm. Combing the two games could lead to one of the most brutal and satisfying fighting experiences a gamer could ask for. It would also allow developers to go all out with the Killer Instinct character's fatalities since Mortal Kombat is always pushing the limits of violence and gore in video games.

Both Mortal Kombat and Killer Instinct feature darker characters than most other fight game franchises. Many of the characters could fit in either game perfectly. Having iconic Mortal Kombat characters like Lui Kang or Kitana face off against renowned Killer Instinct fighters like Jago or Orchid would be epic. Every character from each game also has a morbid and gritty style about them, which separates them from other fighters in other rival franchises. This edgy character design wouldn't work well in any other mainstream fighting franchise besides Mortal Kombat and Killer Instinct.

Mortal Kombat and Killer Instinct go together like bread and butter. It's like the two games were destined for a crossover title. Combining the over the top violence of Mortal Kombat and the fast-past combo system found in Killer Instinct could lead to one of the best and most brutal fighting experiences of the decade. Since Ed Boon and Phil Spencer have both shown interest in a crossover title before, many fans are hoping to see an MK vs. KI on the upcoming Xbox Series X. Nothing has been confirmed, so gamers will just have to keep their fingers crossed until developers commit to the project.
