Another Star Trek: The Next Generation alum has teased a potential appearance in Star Trek: Picard.

Whoopi Goldberg was recently interviewed by SFX Magazine, where she discussed her love of Star Trek and how she was ecstatic when The Next Generation brought her on to play the enigmatic bartender Guinan. When asked if she had watched Star Trek: Discovery, Goldberg replied, "No, I haven’t seen [Discovery] – but I did watch the first season of Picard, which was great. From time to time, I talk to Patrick [Stewart] about Star Trek. Hopefully, I will be joining their cast for a little while next year. I’m very excited about that."

Picard showrunner Michael Chabon had confirmed Guinan's appearance during an interview with THR last March. "It’s amazing," Chabon said about writing scenes between Picard and Guinan. "I’ve gone back to rewatch some of the more key Guinan episodes from Next Gen, the major Picard and Guinan moments. She’s such an amazing actor; I can’t wait."

Goldberg would not be the only Next Generation alum to reprise their role on the show. Jonathan Frakes and Marina Sirtis returned to their roles as William Riker and Deanna Troi in Season 1, while Brent Spiner's Data also played a prominent role. Season 2 of Picard does not have a premiere date, through production is expected to start in February according to star Jeri Ryan.

Goldberg currently stars in the CBS All Access series The Stand, where she portrays the benevolent Mother Abigail. Based on the novel of the same name by Stephen King, The Stand follows the survivors of a deadly virus as they adapt to a new world-- and a war between the forces of good and evil.

Star Trek: Picard stars Patrick Stewart, Alison Pill, Michelle Hurd, Evan Evagora, Isa Briones, Santiago Cabrera and Harry Treadaway. The first season is available on CBS All Access.
