Initially starting out as a villain, Avatar: The Last Airbender's Zuko is one of the franchise's most compelling characters and proved integral in stopping Fire Lord Ozai's plans of world domination. Zuko returned to the franchise for The Legend of Korra as an older man, wisened by his experience. However, there are still a lot of mysteries surrounding Zuko and his life between the two series, including just how he got his dragon: Druk. In this video, we're going to explain just where we think Zuko got Druk based on what the show's creators have said and other evidence.
Legends in the Avatar Universe claim that there were quite a lot of dragons. However, during the time of Fire Lord Sozin, hunting dragons became a popular sport among the Fire Nation's citizens. This resulted in dragons getting nearly wiped out. Uncle Iroh, though, saved two dragons, lying about having slain the two animals. Iroh's actions almost certainly related to Druk's origins and how Zuko received his own dragon.

Created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, Avatar: The Last Airbender debuted on Nickelodeon in 2005 and ran for three seasons. Following the end of the show, a sequel series, The Legend of Korra, ran from 2012 until 2014. Since the end of that show, there have been a number of different comic books and novels set in the Avatar Universe. Currently, Netflix is working on a live-action adaptation of the series.
