The upcoming season of Westworld has been rumored to premiere in the first half of 2020.

The date announcement comes from HBO Programming Chief Casey Bloys during the cable channel's day at the Television Critics Association on Wednesday. When asked by TheWrap when the season would premiere, he replied: "First half of 2020."

Though still not a concrete premiere date, Bloys' words narrow the field from what fans previously knew. The newest trailer dropped at San Diego Comic-Con on July 20. While it provided a teaser of several characters from the twisty drama, including Jeffrey Wright's Bernard and Tessa Thompson's Charlotte Hale, there was no concrete date established. True to the tone of the series, which utilizes flashbacks and multiple timelines, all that showed was a vague card reading "2020."

Bloys also spoke about the distant future of Westworld. After showrunners Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy inked a deal with Amazon Studios in April, many speculated the show's designers would take a more hands-off approach to upcoming seasons. Bloys disputed the notion.

"They are 100 percent hands on," he said. “We have deals with them for a potential fourth and fifth season. They’re very committed to Westworld. So, I’m not worried about losing their focus. They don’t lose focus."
