Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has refrained from revealing when Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will end.

The MCU's Phase 4 was initially slated to kick off with Black Widow in May 2020, before the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic forced the film to be delayed a year. Instead, Phase 4 will begin with this week's WandaVision, which is also the first live-action MCU series to stream on Disney+. When asked if he could say when Phase 4 will wrap up during a virtual WandaVision conference reported on by ComicBook.com, Feige simply answered "No."

Originally, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was meant to debut on Disney+ in August 2020, followed by WandaVision in December. The shows will now release in reverse order, with Falcon and the Winter Soldier premiering in March right after WandaVision ends. According to Feige, these release date changes "required no shuffling whatsoever in terms of the creative." He went on to add, "As is often the case when you're thrown curveballs, the unexpected has often served Marvel Studios well, and it has served us well in this case because [WandaVision], being our first [Phase 4 MCU release], I love how bold it is."

Feige also said he's hopeful for Black Widow's May release but admitted that will depend on how widely the COVID-19 vaccine has been made available to the general public by that point. The other three Phase 4 MCU movies scheduled for theatrical release this year are Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Eternals and the untitled Spider-Man 3. Meanwhile, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Thor: Love and Thunder, Black Panther 2 and Captain Marvel 2 are all set to arrive in theaters in 2022.

Beyond 2022, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is expected to arrive in 2023 but has yet to receive an official release date. Marvel Studios is also confirmed to be working on Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania for a theatrical release in the next few years, along with the MCU reboot of Fantastic Four and a new Blade movie starring Mahershala Ali. For the time being, it's unclear which of these films will be included in Phase 4.

Marvel Studios is also working on Deadpool 3, which Feige has confirmed will be the MCU's first R-rated film. Ryan Reynolds will reprise his role as Wade Wilson for the movie and is overseeing the script's development with Bob's Burgers writers Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin. According to Feige, however, Deadpool 3 is unlikely to begin production this year due to Reynolds' packed schedule.
