The Miami Marlins' mascot probably should've realized he was in trouble when Brad Meltzer stepped onto the mound Friday armed with a lightsaber.

Invited to throw the first pitch for "Star Wars" Night at Marlins Park, the bestselling author, comics writer and television host didn't disappoint, lobbing the ball only as a pretext to a duel with Billy the Marlin, who served as the Obi-Wan Kenobi to Meltzer's Darth Vader.

There's no word yet as the whether Billy went on to become more powerful that Meltzer could ever imagine, but the Marlins did go on to beat the Mets 6-5.

Although Meltzer is best known for his adult thrillers, he has collaborated with cartoonist Chris Eliopoulos for the "Ordinary People Change the World" series of biographies for children. "I Am Jackie Robinson" was released in January.
