Those who jumped onto Disney+ on launch day were disappointed to learn that because of the service being in its infancy, many movies that were intended to be available were already signed to rival platforms. The official Disney+ website explains that many of these projects are unavailable “due to other existing agreements.” Among the absent movies were Ant-Man and the Wasp, Black Panther, Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Infinity War.

Until recently, Black Panther and Thor: Ragnarok were streaming on Netflix, before their contracts ran out and they were released on Disney+ the very next day. With that in mind, one can surmise that Ant-Man and the Wasp is likely to follow the same tactic. The Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly-led film is scheduled to be on Disney+ starting July 29, and will seemingly leave Netflix the day before.

Focused on Scott Lang, Hope van Dyne and Hanky Pym attempting to get Janet van Dyne out of the Quantum Realm, Ant-Man and the Wasp was the first MCU movie released after Avengers: Infinity War, at a time when fans were clamoring to learn more about the fate of their favorite characters. This overwhelming interest in the film led to it grossing over $600 million at the worldwide box office, over $100 million more than its predecessor in 2015.

The overwhelming success of the sequel led Marvel Studios to add Ant-Man 3 to its upcoming slate of films late last year. Director Peyton Reed is expected to return to helm his third MCU installment, one which is part of the ever-growing list of Phase 4 projects.

So, despite having to wait a few extra months, Disney+ subscribers who are fans of Paul Rudd's lovable pint-sized hero will be able to watch his second solo outing later this year, which will pair nicely with a couple of MCU original series that will soon hit the platform, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and WandaVision.

Director Peyton Reed’s Ant-Man and the Wasp stars Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, Tip “T.I.” Harris, Judy Greer, David Dastmalchian, Michael Douglas, Michelle Pfeiffer, Laurence Fishburne, Hannah John-Kamen, Randall Park and Walton Goggins. The film is now available in Digital HD, DVD and Blu-ray.
