The first trailer for Amazon's The Wheel of Time showed off some eye-catching colors, especially in the outfits worn by the Aes Sedai characters. This isn't just a stylistic choice -- the One Power-wielding women of the White Tower are organized into seven sects, or Ajahs, each one concentrating on different goals and skill sets and each one represented by a color.

As the story unfolds, some fans might get curious about which Ajah they would identify as if given the chance to become an Aes Sedai. It's best to be fully informed before making a choice, so here's a brief rundown on how the Blue, Green, Yellow, Red, White, Grey, and Brown Ajahs focus their attention.

Blue Ajah

The first Aes Sedai that we'll meet in the show is a Blue, Moiraine Damodred. Her journey to a remote village in search of the Dragon Reborn is characteristic of Blues, who are devoted to the pursuit of justice through direct involvement in worldly affairs.

Green Ajah

Green is known as the Battle Ajah, but since Aes Sedai are forbidden from using the Power as a weapon except in specific circumstances, this mostly means that they're waiting for the Last Battle so they can start fighting. Greens are allowed to bond to as many Warders as they want, in contrast to the other Ajahs, who only take one at most.

Yellow Ajah

Aes Sedai have an especially potent method of healing anything from mortal wounds to simple ailments through the One Power. While most can use this ability to some degree, the Yellow Ajah makes it their primary focus.

Red Ajah

The Red Ajah track down men who can channel and stop them, taking their power away or killing them. Although this job is seen as a necessary evil, Reds still have a reputation for misandry. It doesn't help that they're the only Ajah that won't bond Warders, who are almost always male.

Brown Ajah

Aes Sedai of the Brown Ajah concentrate on studying, gathering knowledge of all kinds. They're often perceived as absentminded, more interested in books than the real world.

White Ajah

The Ajah with the fewest members is White. Known for being logical and dispassionate, Whites devote themselves to philosophical study and are rarely found outside the White Tower.

Grey Ajah

Greys are mediators, seeking peaceful resolutions between political leaders. They spend more time out in the world than Whites and Browns, but probably won't feature much in the main storyline of the show.

...And the Other One

The so-called Black Ajah isn't really an Ajah. In fact, there's plenty of doubt about whether it even exists. For the sake of the argument, though, Aes Sedai who have thrown in their lot with the forces of evil must keep up the ruse of being "real" Aes Sedai, so they're living secretly among the other Ajahs. The same thing is happening with all kinds of people all over the world, but because the Aes Sedai are so powerful, the Black Ajah are especially dangerous.

Of course, that's only if they're real. The White Tower doesn't like these rumors, and will shut them down at every opportunity.

So, what's your Ajah?
