Two vampire-centric television shows, AMC's Interview With the Vampire and FX's What We Do in the Shadows, have engaged in a spirited discussion on social media.

The back and forth between the two "horny vampire shows" began on Twitter, when the official account for What We Do in the Shadows tweeted, "now it's trendy to interview vampires." Interview With the Vampire's account replied, "There's no need to be jealous. Have your interviewer call ours," leaving it up to interpretation whether this exchange was sassy, hostile or just downright flirty.

AMC's Interview With the Vampire is based on the 1976 novel by acclaimed horror author Anne Rice, which centers on a 200-year-old vampire named Louis de Pointe du Lac, who recounts his life story over the course of an interview with an unnamed reporter. In particular, the story focuses on him being turned into a vampire and mentored by Lestat. The series stars Jacob Anderson as Louis de Pointe du Lac, Sam Reid as Lestat de Lioncourt, and Bailey Bass as Claudia and Eric Bogosian as journalist Daniel Molloy.

"What Anne Rice created and what her fans have been transfixed by forces us to take this book-to-television show transition with a great deal of responsibility," Johnson said in a previous interview. "It is imperative that we do not disappoint her fans and yet we need to make sure that this story, these characters sing for a modern audience. We are hoping that this series compels the Anne Rice fan to rediscover her works. We are also hoping that those viewers who have never read an Anne Rice novel go running to the bookstore eager to understand what all the fuss is about."

As for What We Do in the Shadows, the comedy series recently aired its fourth season on FX. Created by Jemaine Clement, What We Do in the Shadows premiered on FX in 2019 and is based on the 2014 film of the same name, which was written by both Clement and Taika Waititi. The mockumentary comedy horror series follows four vampires living as roommates on Staten Island. Season 2 premiered in April 2020, and the series was renewed for a fourth season ahead of its Season 3 premiere in September 2021. The series has already been renewed for Seasons 5 and 6.

All four seasons of What We Do in the Shadows are available to stream on Hulu, while new episodes of Interview With the Vampire air every Sunday on AMC and AMC+.
