Moon Knight is just around the corner and MCU fans are eager to see what the newest TV series has in store. The show just received its official rating of 14A or TV-14 and this can give fans some insight on the type of show they may see. While some are looking for an extremely dark and gritty style show, they may need to temper their expectations. The show will likely feature some dark themes and imagery but it's unlikely to go as far as Netflix shows like Daredevil or Punisher

In the comics, Marc Spector aka Moon Knight is known to be violent and brutal. He struggles with dissociative identity disorder (DID) and some of his alter personalities are more violent than others. He has excellent combat training and a fairly loose moral code when it comes to dolling out justice. This all adds up to a lot of curiosity as to how the MCU will handle one of the darkest heroes they have brought to screen yet.

A 14A rating allows for "violence, coarse language and sexually suggestive scenes." It also means it's approved for audiences that are 14 years or older if accompanied by an adult. Let's keep in mind that there have been plenty of films and TV shows that have done intense thrillers and action with lower ratings. The upcoming movie The Batman has a PG-13 rating, yet is being hailed as dark and intense.

The rating doesn't necessarily dictate the content. Fans can still expect a unique story that will feel different from anything else in the MCU. Oscar Isaac, the actor playing Moon Knight, has described the show as giving him "the  chance to do something really fucking nutty." This is a drastic description, but it fits with what fans would expect from a Moon Knight show. People are hoping to see something dark and weird, and a 14A rating allows that.

Some viewers are, however, concerned that a rating below 'R' will restrict the type of action they can get in the show. But Moon Knight is still expected to have brutal action sequences. 14A allows for a significant amount of violence, just with less gore. Violent scenes can still feel powerful, intense, and painful, even if there isn't an overwhelming amount of blood on the screen. In a recent interview, Kevin Feige said that "Moon Knight is wailing on another character, and it's loud, brutal." He also said that with Moon Knight "there's a tonal shift. This is a different thing." This all goes to prove that Disney+ may be pushing 14A to it's limits and truly delivering an over the top action thriller.

Marc Spector was a trained mercenary who becomes the hero Moon Knight. He is fast, brutal, and takes down criminals with extreme prejudice. Fans are hoping that when his show premiers, they are treated to a psychological thriller that will stun them with its action sequences. With a 14A rating, Moon Knight seems to be on the right track and will hopefully satisfy the MCU fanbase.

Moon Knight premiers on March 30th on Disney+.
