Most of us fondly remember Marvel's 25th Anniversary (of their Marvel superhero line of comics, that is), when they had all the covers for one month have the face of a character from that title, with a border made up of most of the notable Marvel characters of the time (I posted them all here).

Well, for their 70th Anniversary, Marvel is doing this idea again, with the great Jimmy Cheung doing the borders.

It's a great idea for a celebration except the fact that the covers are variant incentive covers! Stores have to buy 10 copies of the regular cover for the right to buy one of the 70th Anniversary Border covers.

So a neat idea like this that you'd THINK they'd want to share with the majority of readers is not going to work out like that at all.

It's an odd idea.
