The 2017 Power Rangers movie ended with a tease of Tommy Oliver, the original Green Ranger. Though a sequel never materialized due to critical and commercial shortcomings, we now have a look at what could have been.

Sanit Klamchanuan, an artist at Weta Workshop, posted his drawing of the Green Ranger suit on Instagram. Klamcanuan wrote that since New Zealand, the home of Weta, is on lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he had a chance to sketch out the drawing.

The design not only boasts the same bio-organic armor that the other Rangers wore in the movie, but it also has a dragon-shaped helmet and chest plate echoing the original Green Ranger suit. Tommy is also shown clutching a large bladed weapon, which could be the Sword of Darkness.

Tommy Oliver first appeared in the five-part storyline "Green With Evil" during season 1 of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, where he was brainwashed by Rita Repulsa into becoming the Green Ranger. After being freed from Rita's control, Tommy joined the other Rangers and continued to serve across various teams. Tommy is also a major player in the BOOM! Studios Ranger comics. In the 2017 movie, Rita wielded the Green Power Coin which gives Tommy his powers.

Saban's Power Rangers debuted in 2017; its underperformance at the box office resulted in plans for potential sequels being scrapped. A reboot from Paramount Pictures is in development, with Jonathan Enwistle (The End of the F***ing World) in talks to direct.
