Westworld's third season has expanded the show's cyberpunk vision of the future in a big way, with many of its familiar faces taking surprising new roles. And while one major character has been absent throughout the first three episodes, they're poised to make their return: William, the Man in Black.

HBO has released a promo for the season's fourth episode, titled "The Mother of Exiles." The promo reveals the Man in Black losing his grasp on reality as he lives in solitude, his opulent home now in complete disarray.

The Man in Black was the central antagonist of Season 1, his true identity shrouded in mystery. Eventually, he was revealed to be an older incarnation of guest and Delos Corporation executive William, the majority shareholder and owner of Westworld.

Season 3 follows the hosts -- the term for the androids within the park -- escaping to Los Angeles in 2058 in the wake of Season 2's massacre of guests within Westworld. Though the Man in Black has been stuck in a prison of his own inadvertent making, the intimidating gunslinger is about to make his presence known once more, in a major way.
