Aaron Sorkin may just have made my year. The West Wing and Charlie Wilson's War writer, always at his best when writing smart political drama full of flawed characters, has optioned a tell-all book written by one of John Edwards' aides.
Sorkin, who's currently getting a lot of renewed attention for his script for Facebook biopic The Social Network, will use Andrew Young's The Politician as the basis for an Edwards biopic he's planning not only to script, but direct, as well. According to Deadline Hollywood, the movie will (unsurprisingly, perhaps) focus on the Democratic Presidential Primary race of 2008, when Edwards' political dreams crashed and burned as news of his illegitimate child began to surface.
No studio has been approached with the project yet, but personally, I can't wait to see the finished version already.
