The Expendables universe is getting some new blood. Well, it's mostly old blood, actually, but you get the deal by now.
The aging action-hero franchise is tapping four "newcomers" for its upcoming threequel, according to Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer — all of whom are household names for action-movie lovers young and old. The four stars are Wesley Snipes, Jackie Chan, Milla Jovovich and Nicolas Cage. They are said to be in "advanced negotiations" for The Expendables 3.
Sylvester Stallone has long teased (or is it threatened?) the involvement of Cage and Snipes, but Feltheimer's confirmation lends the credibility we needed to hear to start considering these actors locked and loaded. It'll be the first major motion picture for Snipes since serving three years in prison for tax-related crimes. It'll also be a reunion of sorts for Stallone and Snipes; the two starred together in the 1993 action movie Demolition Man. Snipes played Simon Phoenix, a bleach-blonde mass-murderer who loves to talk to himself while causing terror.
