Esteemed horror director Wes Craven is headed to television with Steve Niles and Christopher Mitten's upcoming comic, "The Disciples," The Hollywood Reporter reports.

"The Disciples," a sci-fi thriller story set in space and published by Black Mask Studios, is due out in May. Niles is best known as a co-creator of "30 Days of Night." Mitten's past work includes "Umbral" and various covers, including "Batman: Arkham Unhinged" and "Ash & the Army of Darkness."

Sara Bottfeld of Industry Entertainment and Mask co-founders Matt Pizzolo & Niles will executive produce alongside Craven. Though Craven has some experience with television, including a short-lived series called "Nightmare Cafe," he is better known for his film work including "A Nightmare on Elm Street" and "Scream." "The Disciples" is Craven's second time adapting a comic to live-action, having previously written and directed 1982's "Swamp Thing" feature film based on the DC Comics hero.

Universal Cable Productions, the network that brought "Being Human" and "Defiance" to television, is behind the project.
