Acclaimed horror filmmaker Wes Craven has signed a first-look deal with Universal Cable Productions that will see him develop two projects at Syfy: a television series based on his 1991 movie "The People Under the Stairs," and an adaptation of Daryl Gregory's novel "We Are All Completely Fine."

Craven already has 'The Disciples," based on the upcoming comic by Steve Niles and Christopher Mitten, in the works with UCP.

According to TV Line, "The People Under the Stairs" will reimagine Craven's horror classic for a series described as "a cross between 'Downton Abbey' and 'The Amityville Horror.'" Following the disappearance of a young woman, "centuries-old horrors" are uncovered deep within Robeson Family Manor. Michael Reisz ("Shadowhunters") will write the pilot, which will be executive produced by Craven.

"We Are All Completely Fine," meanwhile, centers on Dr. Jan Sayer, a mysterious psychologist who unwittingly unlocks evils from her patients' pasts. Craven will write and direct the pilot.
