Wes Bentley Joins Redford and Howard in 'Pete's Dragon' Remake

The Wrap has learned from an undisclosed source that Hunger Games actor Wes Bentley has joined the cast of Disney's Pete's Dragon remake.

It's not known which role Bentley will play in the updated version of the 1977 family classic, but he joins a cast that already includes Robert Redford, Bryce Dallas Howard and Oakes Fegley, who will play Pete.

Directed by David Lowery from a script by Lowery and his writing partner Toby Halbrooks, the new Pete's Dragon won't be a musical. In addition to its dozen or so songs, the original film was known for its visual effects, which placed an animated dragon in a live-action setting. In the film, the dragon raises the orphaned Pete in the forest.

The report does confirm Redford and Howard's involvement with the film. The two had previously just been in talks to star.
