The following contains spoilers for Werewolf by Night, now streaming on Disney+.

Disney+'s Werewolf by Night definitely lived up to its billing as a unique pocket of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Apart from its black-and-white aesthetic, it brought blood, guts and gore to the MCU in a massive way. The special feature revolved around a hunt at the estate of the late Ulysses Bloodstone, with various monster hunters going after Man-Thing to claim the powerful Bloodstone gem.

In the process, Ulysses' daughter, Elsa, tries to claim her birthright, while the titular wolf, Jack Russell, masquerades in human form to help Man-Thing. This leads to a swashbuckling TV special, filled with heart, soul and a lot of action. However, by the time the hour-long special presentation wraps, some questions are left unanswered.

What Really Happened to Elsa's Mom?

Elsa Bloodstone in Werewolf By Night

In the comics, Elsa's mom, Elise, grew disenchanted with Ulysses' monster-hunting, thinking it endangered the children. He had her institutionalized in a very dark arc, which ended with them separated once he died. This special confirms Elise also hated Ulysses' life, so they got divorced.

But from the hatred Verussa (the stepmom) tosses Elsa's way, and the way Elsa's back with a vengeance to get what's hers, it could be Elise ended up being killed. This would be ample reason for Elsa to return to claim her inheritance and ruin Verussa. Even if the MCU's Elise was locked away as well, it would explain why Elsa is so incensed, giving her a tragic backstory and a lifelong mission -- to honor her mother, per the source material.

What's Next For Man-Thing and Jack?

Luckily, when Jack turns into the wolf, he only kills villains at the estate. Man-Thing does the same, murdering Verussa for how she kept him captive. The episode ends with Jack and Man-Thing teasing their new adventures while they drink coffee. Admittedly, it's tame as they just want sushi, but a new chapter could take them to the Nexus of All Realities.

This would build on Man-Thing using the gateway in the comics to peer into various worlds and alternate dimensions while capitalizing on the MCU's current dilemma with a fractured Multiverse. It works well with the fad of new realities and incursions taking place. They could even meet other monsters such as vampires, hunters like the Daywalker, Blade, and heroes like Captain Britain and MI-13, or the Ghost Riders and the Midnight Sons -- all common denominators for both characters in the books.

How Did Ulysses Die?

In the comics, after years of monster hunting, Ulysses ran into conflict with a secret society called the Conspiracy, which eventually got him killed. The Disney+ special keeps Ulysses' cause of death vague, though, alluding to natural causes. However, the Conspiracy could be at work here, taking out Ulysses to decommission the hunter fraternity.

There's even a chance a monster subtly did it. However, given Ulysses' sadistic nature, he's the kind of conniving person to fake his death just to see who'd be worthy of the gem. This would set him up to return, and beckon Elsa to his side after she won the relic and, seemingly, his estate.

What's Elsa's Plan With the Stone?

Elsa did cut a sinister figure when she sat down, admiring the gem after the bloodbath. She was clearly intrigued by inheriting her birthright, but the special ended before indicating what she'll do next. That said, she has options; firstly, she can follow her monster-hunting path from the comics. This could lead her to Blade, the Braddocks, Deadpool, Black Knight, the Ghost Riders and such. There's also a chance she seeks out her mother, as well as her brother, Cullen, who was a monster in the books.

That would paint an intriguing family dynamic, adding tension to Ulysses' legacy and Elsa's role with the gem. There's also a chance she reunites with Jack, as they do have chemistry, and forms a team with him and Man-Thing to help out other monsters. Ultimately, Elsa's been linked to a ton of other heroes in the lore, but a more isolated, character-driven approach might help her character develop better, with familiar faces she has a rapport with.
