During this year's D23, Marvel Studios revealed the first trailer for Werewolf by Night, its Halloween Special. Starring Gabriel García Bernal and Laura Donnelly as Jack Russell and Elsa Bloodstone respectively, this special follows a group of monster hunters in the search of a powerful relic. So far, the trailer has shown some of its characters, like Man-Thing, Verusa, and Jovan.

However, the clip is still quite mysterious, so fans can't help to wonder which other Marvel characters may appear in the show. Based on the trailer's Vincent Price-retro vibe, it isn't difficult to imagine which classic horror Marvel icons could at least make a cameo appearance on Werewolf by Night. Fans are particularly hopeful to see a number of Marvel's horror characters.

10 Victoria Montesi Is Connected To The Darkhold

Victoria Montesi from Marvel Comics

The daughter of Vittorio Montesi, a priest working on the Vatican's Occult Archives, Victoria Montesi wasn't conceived. Instead, she was made using the Darkhold, one of the most powerful objects in the Marvel universe. Given this, she can sense when the Darkhold is used, has a very slow aging factor, and she's connected to Chthon, her creator.

Since WandaVision, the Darkhold has played a very important role in the MCU, but now that Wanda destroyed it in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, it's difficult to know if it will return somehow. Victoria's appearance in Werewolf by Night could be the first clue towards this.

9 Hannibal King Was One Of Blade's Greatest Allies

Blade's pal Hannibal King

Created by Marv Wolfman and Gene Colan, Hannibal King is a private investigator who was turned into a vampire. Hating his own nature, Hannibal only consumes purchased or stolen blood from blood banks. Since he was transformed, Hannibal vowed to hunt monsters like him, which he often does by teaming up with Blade.

In 2019, Marvel announced they were working on a Blade reboot, starring Mahershala Ali. However, beyond a voice cameo in Eternals, fans haven't gotten anything. As Blade's ally, Hannibal King would be the perfect excuse to add new clues about the future of Blade in the MCU.

8 Man-Wolf's Time On The MCU Is Due

Marvel's Man-Wolf growls amidst Kirby krackle

The son of Jonah J. Jameson, John Jameson III is an astronaut who found the Godstone during a mission on the moon. On the first night of the full moon, it transformed him into the Man-Wolf. Eventually, John learned to control his transformations, but not before many people suffered his violence.

Since he's one of She-Hulk's most famous love interests, fans thought that he would appear on She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Since this isn't the case, Werewolf by Night is yet another opportunity for Man-Wolf's debut. He and Jack Russell could bond over their condition.

7 N'Kantu, The Living Mummy Screams Classic Horror

n'kantu the living mummy

As mummies are a key character in classic horror, Werewolf by Night should totally include one. In 1974, Steve Garber and Rich Buckler created N'Kantu, the Living Mummy. Originally a tribe chief in Africa, N'Kantu was drained of his blood, which was replaced by an alchemical substance. Then, he was placed on a sarcophagus for thousands of years.

When he woke up, N'Kantu had superhuman strength and durability, which he used to become a valuable member of the Legion of Monsters where he met Werewolf by Night. Since Werewolf by Night will follow a group of hunters as they deal with a specific threat, it wouldn't be strange to have N'Kantu join them on their quest.

6 Daimon & Satana Hellstrom Are The Spawns Of A Demon

deimon and satana hellstrom

Originally the children of Satan, Daimon and Satana's origins were retconned to make them the spawn of Marduk Kurios, a high-level demon who tricked a human into being with him. Although raised in the same circumstances and trained in dark magic by their father, Daimon chose to do good, while Satana embraced her demonic abilities.

Satana and Daimon already debuted in Helstrom, a Hulu series that definitely deserved more, but the MCU has a golden opportunity to bring them back to the live-action universe through Werewolf by Night. Their moral dichotomy would make for an interesting subplot.

5 Terror Is An Obscure But Spooky Character From Marvel

Also known as Shreck, Terror is a cosmic entity with green, decaying skin that has odd spikes protruding from his cheeks. Terror takes the bodyparts of his foes and grafts them onto his own body, gaining their memories and special abilities. In many ways, he is pure nightmare fuel.

Since he starred in Terror Inc., Shreck has appeared in other comics, but nothing particularly popular. Fortunately for him, his aesthetic and abilities would fit just right on Werewolf by Night, especially if Marvel Studios gives him a comedic twist.

4 Ghost Rider Needs To Return To The MCU

After the 2007 film, Ghost Rider returned to the small screen on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., where both Gabriel Luna and Tom McComas portrayed Robbie Reyes and Johnny Blaze. Unfortunately, their time on the series was quite short, but as a supernatural motorcyclist who sold his soul to a demon, Ghost Rider is the perfect fit for Werewolf by Night.

Ghost Rider may not be a monster hunter, but his powers are particularly useful against them. His penance stare, his ability to manipulate sins and souls, and his expertise in exorcisms would make Ghost Rider a valuable ally for the group, especially if they deal with demons.

3 Magik Already Rules Limbo

Magik with her Soulsword in Limbo

A highly trained sorceress and demon lord, Illyana "Magik" Rasputina is a powerful mutant who was kidnapped by Belasco, a villain that turned her into his apprentice. After she was saved, Illyana became a member of the New Mutants. Her magic, combined with her teleporting abilities, make her a valuable asset to the team.

Magik already has a live-action iteration: Anna Taylor-Joy portrayed her in New Mutants. Unfortunately, the film was a critical and box office bomb. Given Taylor-Joy's excellent performance and Magik's compelling, dark story, she should return for Marvel's Halloween Special. Fans would be thrilled for sure.

2 Nightcrawler Could Be Yet Another Hint To The Coming Of The Mutants

Nightcrawler looking good with a beard

Although he's as kind as possible, Nightcrawler has been ostracized by society due to his looks. Kurt's blue skin, yellow eyes, and prehensible tale always scare others because they remind people of a demon. This doesn't stop Nightcrawler from protecting humanity, acting as an X-Man.

There have been many clues as to how mutants are on their way to the MCU. Kamala Khan's so-called mutation, the Easter egg about Wolverine in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, and Patrick Stewart's Xavier in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Nightcrawler's appearance on Werewolf by Night would open yet another step toward the introduction of mutants to the MCU if Marvel manages to introduce his origin story.

1 Fans Really Want To See Mephisto In The MCU

Mephisto in all his evil glory from Marvel Comics.

Since the first episode of WandaVision, the internet has been filled with theories about Mephisto being the mastermind behind everything. Unfortunately for those fans, this wasn't true. Instead, it was Agatha Harkness. Regardless, it isn't too late to bring this demon to the MCU. After all, this fake version of Satan is as scary as the real Lucifer.

If Werewolf by Night plans to be a dark comedy or a full-on horror film, Mephisto could be its main villain. There are many ways to make it so that he's pulling the string behind everything as he tends to do in the comics.
