Marvel Comics announced a new Werewolf by Night miniseries, which will be written by Taboo of the Black Eyed Peas and Benjamin Jackendoff, with art from Scot Eaton.

According to Comicbook.com, the series is inspired by Native American mythology and storytelling. It will follow Red Wolf as he is tasked with tracking down a werewolf that is terrorizing his home.

“We're going through a Native lens because of my Native American heritage," said Taboo. "I always liked storytelling from a native perspective. Although I was born in the city of Los Angeles, recently I've been really connected to the Indian country or to native communities to be able to be a service and help native youth, inspire them, especially when it comes to health and wellness, and arts and music.

This story is personal for me because I am half Hopi, that's my tribe and the character is based on Hopi and the Hopi reservation," he continued. "And for us, we always want to be respectful to native folks, especially when it comes to the Marvel Universe.”

Jack Russell aka Werewolf by Night was first introduced in 1972's Marvel Spotlight #2, and is a descendant of a line of werewolves. Unlike the classic versions of the creature, Werewolf by Night can transform into his demonic counterpart at any time, but automatically becomes one at a full moon. The character is rumored to appear on Disney+'s upcoming Moon Knight.
