"Legends of Tomorrow" star Wentworth Miller recently found himself the subject of a meme. The image, a side-by-side comparison of Miller during his stint as the lead of Fox's "Prison Break" and another during his semi-retirement from acting in 2010.

The meme, which focused on the weight Miller had gained during his break from acting, came to Miller's attention and, as he recently wrote in a Facebook post, seeing the meme made "it hurt to breathe." But as with everything in life, I get to assign meaning. And the meaning I assign to this/my image is Strength. Healing. Forgiveness. Of myself and others."

Miller explains the context surrounding the 2010 picture, which was taken during a time when he was struggling with suicidal thoughts and turned to food for comfort. "There were stretches when the highlight of my week was a favorite meal and a new episode of TOP CHEF. Sometimes that was enough. Had to be. And I put on weight. Big f--king deal."

Despite the feelings of hurt he initially felt upon seeing the meme and those pictures -- which had been fodder for tabloids years ago -- again, Miller said that he's "glad" those pictures persist. "Now, when I see that image of me in my red t-shirt, a rare smile on my face, I am reminded of my struggle. My endurance and my perseverance in the face of all kinds of demons. Some within. Some without. Like a dandelion up through the pavement, I persist."
