Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-Kun! is a Halloween-style isekai anime series starring Iruma Suzuki, a kind boy who finds himself in the demonic Netherworld with no way out. He is now the foster grandson of Lord Sullivan, like it or not, and he must also attend the demonic Babyls school as a first-year student.

Iruma's wild isekai adventure is well underway, and so far, it's clear that while Iruma's new life is a dangerous and stressful one, he is also getting comfortable here in the Netherworld, and there are actually many things to like about his new life as a Babyls student. Iruma's life can be split between its perks and the harsh realities, and overall, it's an evenly mixed bag.

10 PERK: Sullivan Cares Deeply For Him

Iruma Suzuki is now Lord Sullivan's foster grandson, and when it comes to foster families, Iruma Suzuki has hit the jackpot. Lord Sullivan isn't some brutal demon taskmaster, and instead, he is actually a kind and compassionate old man who absolutely dotes on his new grandson.

Sullivan will give Iruma anything he wants, and Sullivan will gladly admit that he is recklessly spoiling his new grandson. Sullivan also provided Iruma with a mansion to live in, and most Babyls students can only dream of such luxury.

9 HARSH REALITY: He Is Demon Food

The simple truth is that even if they are sometimes friendly or funny, demons are still demons, and they will always see human beings like Iruma as food and nothing more. In that regard, demons are like classic vampires, powerful and aloof beings who look down on human cattle.

In fact, the Babyls school song includes lyrics describing humans as being fit only for food, and Iruma has every reason to be deeply disturbed by this. He is a piece of meat attending a school of wolves, so his disguise better hold out, or else he's in trouble.

8 PERK: He Has Powerful Friends At Babyls

Iruma Suzuki may not be a demon, but he is capable of making friends with them, and several of his classmates are his best friends of all. In fact, he has made more friends in the Netherworld than he has on Earth.

One of Iruma's first friends was the well-intentioned troublemaker Valac Clara, who was grateful to become his friend. Iruma can also count both Asmodeus Alice and Azazel Ameri as friends of his, and they can and will do all kinds of things to protect him from his enemies or rivals.

7 HARSH REALITY: He Doesn't Have Wings

Demons vary somewhat in their physical appearance, and they vary even more in their bloodline traits, which are somewhat similar to My Hero Academia Quirks. What all demons have in common is the power of flight, and they can all manifest and retract bat-like wings at will.

These wings give all demons an obvious advantage since they can quickly soar to their school while commuting and can avoid dangerous falls. Iruma, as a human, cannot form wings, and other demons find this strange. His lack of wings is a problem with his efforts to blend in.

6 PERK: He Won The Royal-One Classroom

Normal and evil Iruma

Iruma's evil side is a mixed bag, but at one point, evil Iruma does a lot of good for himself and his classmates in the Abnormal Class. Evil Iruma had the resolve and audacity to seek approval for the Royal One classroom, and he convinced enough teachers to let his class use it from now on.

Iruma can now enjoy the incredible Royal One classroom with his friends, and homeroom will never be the same again. As a bonus, Iruma can take satisfaction in knowing that this is all thanks to him. He can take pride in this achievement.

5 HARSH REALITY: He Doesn't Want All This Attention

Iruma is a naturally humble and helpful person, and he never wants to be put on a pedestal or showered with praise and attention. He does take satisfaction in his deeds, but he'd rather not have anyone else get involved. This is so he can maintain his human disguise.

However, Iruma keeps making headlines one way or another, and the Netherworld is paying much more attention to him than he would like, especially after his stunning victory at Walter Park when fighting those monsters. This is quickly becoming a real headache for him.

4 PERK: He Has The Ring Of Solomon

Iruma cannot use blood magic or fly with wings, but he can fight back with the ring of Solomon, a rare and special artifact that Lord Sullivan generously gifts to him partway through the series. This ring affixed itself to Iruma's finger, and it has granted him access to some serious magic.

The ring can use spells of different levels of intensity, and with the right setting, it can also absorb a vast amount of magical energy, which is how Iruma averted disaster in Walter Park when not even Azazel Ameri could finish the job. This is no ordinary piece of jewelry.

3 HARSH REALITY: He's Not A Great Student

Some anime characters are simply much better at studying than others are, and while some characters are smart enough to serve as tutors, others are hopeless in the classroom. Iruma Suzuki is having a tough time as a student, and his grades are nothing to brag about.

Iruma has few chances to study or learn in the human world, and here in the Netherworld, he can't read the demonic script, nor does he have any reference to Netherworld history, culture, and politics. So, he has a lot of catching up to do, and his grades will be weak in the meantime.

2 PERK: Iruma Knows How To Enjoy Anything

Even if Iruma has a stressful and risky life as a human attending an all-demon school, he still finds ways to enjoy his new life, and he is surprisingly relaxed and easygoing in most scenes where he's not in mortal peril. Unless someone is attacking him, Iruma is having the time of his life.

It's a real gift to be able to enjoy everyday life and find joy in absolutely everything, and Azazel Ameri seems to envy Iruma's ability to enjoy whatever comes his way. It helps that Iruma isn't very ambitious or arrogant.

1 HARSH REALITY: Naberius Kalego Doesn't Like Him Very Much

Naberius Kalego in Welcome To Demon School! Iruma-Kun.

Iruma's homeroom teacher is Naberius Kalego, who himself is a former Babyls student. Kalego is a smart and disciplined teacher who demands the best from his students, but he's not exactly the warm and fuzzy type. Iruma responds better to gentle teaching methods than stern and harsh ones.

Iruma is wary of Kalego, who seems determined to antagonize him and put him through the wringer every day. Kalego is no bully, but then again, his strict demeanor isn't exactly what Iruma wants from a teacher. And it doesn't help that Kalego has a personal feud with Iruma, due to Iruma accidentally humiliating him by using him as a familiar.
