Warning: The following contains spoilers for Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun, Episode 13, “Walter Park”, now streaming on Crunchyroll.

The netherworld of Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun has always been a fairly whimsical world. While the demons sing about eating humans, none have actually ever seen a human (except for Iruma), let alone eaten one, and most demons are actually pretty kind and caring, as seen throughout the series. Season 2, Episode 13 has finally shown something worthy of the label  “demonic,” and it appears right under arguably the most wonderful place in the netherworld: “Walter Park.”

As Iruma and the Misfit Class enter the "end of terminus," or the summer vacation of the netherworld, they finally get a chance to hang out someplace other than school. It is refreshing to see everyone in their own clothes instead of the usual school uniforms, and the clothes all fittingly reflect their individual personalities.

Iruma also invited Ameri, who thought the trip would be a date between the two of them. And the “bodyguards”— Kalego, Balam and Opera – are asked by Lord Sullivan to protect Iruma. They are all level Cheth (8) demons so this is seems like overkill, but they do make for great chaperones when the group decides to split up and compete to see who can have the most fun.

Walter Park itself is definitely a parody of a Disney theme park, from its name that invokes Disney’s founder, a statue that looks exactly like Walt Disney’s iconic statue with Mickey Mouse, to the types of fairytale-like buildings in the park --there's even a parade. In the front of the parade is Ronove Romiere, the person who competed against Ameri during the student council election. His father actually owns Walter Park and he’s supposedly observing the park so that he may open one in school.

Ronove agrees to show Iruma’s team around, and the first place he thinks to take them is the park’s forbidden basement. It turns out the entire Walter Park is built on top of Uraboras Prison, housing 1,600 prisoners. This is because the park uses the prisoners' mana to power the attractions. The sounds of people having fun in the park are meant to irritate the prisoners so that their negative emotions increase their mana, ergo more power for the park via a perverse, exploitative cycle of abuse.

With such an awful system in place, it is no wonder that some prisoners are planning to escape. It just so happens that Iruma’s senpai Kiriwo, who tried to blow up Babyls in Season 1, is also locked up in this prison, serving a two year sentence. While Kiriwo is weak with magic, his personality is a demon that’s “returned to the origin,” or a demon who acts on natural impulses. Kiriwo is sadistic and violent, but also patient and tenacious.

Through his connections, Kiriwo has allied with the most dangerous prisoners in Uraboras. They are also helped by a group of demons who have returned to their origins, called Musashino Crew -- the equivalent of a netherworld terrorist cell. Kiriwo and his crew plan to break out of prison and blow up the park on the same day that Iruma and the Misfit Class are visiting.

This development sets up another potential confrontation between Kiriwo and Iruma that’s possibly even more dramatic than the one from Season 1. Kiriwo is obsessed with Iruma ever since Season 1, and now that he’s a full-on terrorist and is no longer working alone, he'll be even harder to stop. But Iruma has also grown recently, and his bond with the Misfits is stronger after the events of this season, plus he has three powerful bodyguards on his side, so it will be fun to see a team battle between the two sides.
