A variety of weird and wonderful creatures exist in the world of One Piece. Oda's creativity is evident from the way he draws animals and uses them in the story. He fuses animals together, messes with their sizes, and gives them unusual abilities. Some animals play the role of pets, while others function as a unique mode of transport.

From giant elephants like Zunesha or the Sea Serpents pulling the Kuja Pirates' ship, these steeds provide a way for the characters to travel quickly and easily. With that said, viewers can't wait to see if the next animal to appear in One Piece will be cool, funny, or downright weird.

10 Banchi, Giant Turtle Of The Baroque Works

One Piece Steed - Banchi Closeup

Before Nico Robin joined the Straw Hats, she was an antagonist during the Alabasta arc. As Miss All Sunday, she used to work with Crocodile and the Baroque Works. During that time, she traveled around riding the giant turtle, Banchi. Banchi wears a cowboy hat and has a habit of smoking cigars.

While Banchi doesn't have any dialogue unlike Chopper, he classifies as a "Big Friendly" creature. Unlike regular turtles, Banchi is also fast and agile. His hard shell protects him from extreme temperatures and serves as a defense from attacks.

9 Wany, Wanda's Crocodile-Boar Steed

One Piece Steed - Wany Closeup

Minks might already be considered talking animals, but this doesn't stop them from owning pets and companions. Wanda hails from the Warrior Beast tribe and owns the half-crocodile, half-boar creature named Wany.

Introduced during the Zou arc, Wany served as a steed for Wanda and the Straw Hats when they fled to the Whale Forest. Wany also possesses the ability to swim and run fast. The creature doesn't seem rare because the Straw Hats rode something similar to the Rightbelly Fortress after their altercation with Roddy and Blackback.

8 Pierre, Gan Fall's Sky Dot Bird

One Piece Steed - Pierre Closeup

Only a number of animals are known to have consumed a Devil Fruit like Chopper and his Human Human Fruit. Gan Fall's trusted pet and loyal companion, Pierre, ate the Horse-Horse Fruit. Pierre comes from a species called Sky Dot Birds. Sky Dot Birds are native to Sky Island and have the ability to fly long distances without getting tired. They are also very fast and can easily outrun most predators.

Pierre in his normal form looks like a de-feathered bird because of his pink skin with polka dot patterns. However, in his hybrid form, he becomes a bird-horse, retaining a pink body with polka dots. The Devil Fruit ostensibly allows him to transform into a pegasus.

7 Shelly, The Long Ring Long Land Horse

One Piece Steed - Shelly Closeup

Long Ring Long Land is the seventh island that the Straw Hats visited in the first half of the Grand Line. On this island, everything stretches in height and length, including plants and animals. Shelly, a giant horse with an extremely long neck, is native to this island. It's probably a joke on Oda's part to draw Shelly this way, instead of just making her a giraffe.

Being one of a kind, Shelly classifies as an extremely rare animal. According to Tonjit, a nomad resident, the reason for the strange phenomenon of growing long comes from the lack of physical and mental restraint. That means anyone and anything can live freely on the island's great wide plains.

6 Motobaro, Duval's Pet Motor Bison

Luffy with the steed Motobaro in One Piece

A bison that can be ridden like a motorbike would certainly be a fantastic beast for Newt Scamander to catch. Oda enjoys supersizing animals, so he drew Motobaro as a giant bison. Duval owns Motobaro as a pet and mode of transport.

While mostly ridden on land, Motobaro can swim on water while wearing a breathing apparatus. Duval's horns resemble the handlebars of a motorcycle. Duval rides Motobaro as if he's riding a large motorcycle. Later in the Sabaody Archipelago arc, Franky upgraded Motobaro to help him move faster during their escape from the Marines.

5 Camel, Kuzan's Pet Super Penguin

One Piece Steed - Camel Closeup

Oda knows how to keep viewers on their toes, even with simple things like names. It's easy to get confused when the name Camel refers to a super penguin. Camel travels together with Kuzan and is known to be good at cooking barbecues and treading water.

A giant penguin sounds like the coolest pet idea, especially if it can be domesticated. Camel sleeps a lot, just like a pet cat would. Despite his large size, Camel doesn't make any noise when it walks, making it perfect for Kuzan's stealthy operations.

4 Hasami, The Perverted Giant Desert Crab

One Piece Steed - Hasami Closeup

A crab in the desert is already weird enough as it is, but Oda doesn't fail to include eccentric characters as a plot device. Hasami, the giant desert crab, first appears when the Straw Hats are stranded in the middle of a vast desert. While he's a crab, he cannot swim in or tolerate water.

Initially, he seems like a helpful creature, providing them with transportation and even rescuing them from quicksand. However, it quickly becomes clear that Hasami has ulterior motives, such as spying on Nami while she's bathing. Hasami can travel great distances at high speeds, especially when sees a beautiful woman.

3 Nyasha, The Royal Carriage Puller Of Germa Kingdom

One Piece Steed - Nyasha Closeup

Sanji's family remained in the dark until the Whole Cake Island arc. The Vinsmoke Family introduced themselves as the rulers of the Germa Kingdom. They own Nyasha, a giant cat wearing a Germa 66 uniform and puller of the royal carriage.

Not much is known about Nyasha's personality other than its loyalty to the Vinsmoke Family. Nyasha may be inspired by the Norse goddess, Freyja, whose carriage is pulled by two large cats. Perhaps it would be more interesting if the one driving the hearse had cat ears as well to further strengthen the connection.

2 Komachiyo, Tama's Komainu & Childhood Best Friend

One Piece Steed - Komachiyo Closeup

For most of the Wano Country Arc, Komachiyo acted as a steed for Tama and the Straw Hats during the Raid on Onigashima. Since Tama's childhood, the two have been companions and best friends. The dog-lion hybrid doubles the size of a regular komainu, making Komachiyo a giant.

A komainu, based on appearance, doesn't seem like an ideal pet. However, Komachiyo's loyalty and protectiveness of Tama prove this wrong. It managed to fight the Beasts Pirates' raging baboon, who is known to be a strong fighter.

1 King Bulls, Giant Yagaras Of The Franky Family

One Piece Steed - King Bull Closeup

The Water 7 saga introduced the steeds of the Franky Family, the King Bulls. The giant version of Yagara Bulls are some of the strongest creatures in One Piece apart from the Sea Beasts and the Sea Kings. The two king bulls got their names from biblical cities.

As part of the Franky Family, they both wear the signature sunglasses for the sake of fashion. They may look funny, but their strength and size can be compared to those of Elbaf Giants. During the escape from Enies Lobby, they carried the Franky Family and the Straw Hat Pirates to safety.
