Weird Bit in the What If...? One-Shots

After reading the various What If...? one-shots from Marvel (they had one on House of M: Spider-Man, one on Astonishing X-Men, one on World War Hulk and one on Daredevil vs. Elektra) I was a bit puzzled.

Having jokes in the back of What If...? issues is a time-honored tradition. I'm totally down with that (heck, John Rozum practically made his comics debut doing those little back of the book gags).

But making multiple pages of jokes all based on the plot of the one specific issue? That's just weird (here's an example from the What If...? Daredevil vs. Elektra one-shot).

It's not exactly giving Mike Gallagher a lot of room to work with, ya know?
