All week long we will feature brand-new Cool Superman Comic Book Moments (all from the 75 Greatest Superman Stories of All-Time). Here is an archive of all the past cool comic moments that I've featured so far over the years.

Today, we take a look at a famous moment from Kingdom Come where Superman, well, you know, returns...

Kingdom Come was created by Mark Waid and Alex Ross and it tells the story of a future where superheroes and supervillains are practically interchangeable as the methods of super"heroes" have become reckless and occasionally lethal. This new era (plus a tragedy where Lois Lane was killed by the Joker) has sent Superman into exile.

Well, now one of the numerous battles between superheroes and supervillains has led to a true disaster as Captain Atom has exploded, taking out much of America's heartland. Wonder Woman tries to get Superman to come out of retirement as the world needs a noble hero like Superman to be an example to the masses.

A minister named Norman McKay sees all this by virtue of the Spirit of Vengeance, the Spectre, who shows Norman the state of the world as Norman has to pass judgement on humanity. Norman is distraught by what he sees, until a certain someone changes his mind about returning...

Wow, what a great return. Of course, things were about to get a lot harder for Superman, but that's the story of the REST of the series, so let's just appreciate this moment while we can.
