Every day this week will see me feature a brand-new Cool Comic Book Moment. For this week only, I'll be specifically featuring cool moments that happened in the last couple of years (basically since I last did the Year of Cool Comic Moments). Here is an archive of all the past cool comic moments that I've featured so far.

Today we take a look at a great moment from the Eisner-Award winning Daredevil #7, by writer Mark Waid, penciler Paolo Rivera, inker Joe Rivera (Paolo's dad!) and colorist Javier Rodriguez.

The basic concept of the book is that Matt Murdock is taking a group of blind children on a trip for Christmas. However, while in the snow-covered mountaints of the Catskills, their bus gets into an accident. The bus driver is killed and an injured Matt Murdock and a group of blind kids are now stuck in the middle of the mountains in the midst of a snowstorm. Not a good situation, right?

Matt (who changes into Daredevil because of the warm costume and because the kids aren't going to be able to tell he's Daredevil, after all) bemoans the situation...

He thinks there might be hope...

Things look bleak, but then...

What an awesome moment. Waid did a great job getting us to this point but holy crap, the Riveras really drew the hell out of that nearly full-page splash at the end.

Waid has a GREAT line of the next page regarding the kids. This is collected in the second trade collection of Waid's Daredevil. You should really buy all of them, they're awesome!
